Giovanni Pezzino worked as a project architect at Stantec for 9 years. One of the Firms signature project was the Jade Signature. The project is a 1.2 million square foot, 57 Story, 192 Unit condominium building Located in Sunny Isles, Florida. Designed by world renowned architects, Herzog and de Meuron, the project is a concrete and glass structure that incorporates a 3 level under ground parking garage, which has been made possible using a deep soil mix process. Another unique aspect of the project is it's orientation. The design Architects oriented the structure in an angular formation to allow maximum sunlight exposure on the beach side of the tower. This will be one of the few buildings along this strip of beach that allows the late afternoon sunlight to reach the ocean allowing beach goers maximum sun exposure. Something that is seldom accomplished in Sunny Isles or many other locations in south Florida, as most high rise buildings will block the sunlight and cast shadows along the beach by 5 pm.
Stantec was chosen as the executive Architect and Giovanni Pezzino was involved from the early stages of Design Development and continued through as the Project Architect responsible for construction administration. The building was completed in 2017 and Mr. Pezzino has been at the forefront of the entire construction process from the deep soil mix soil improvement to a full time on site representative role that has seen the project progress from the first auger drilling through to completion. The project had its challenges but none that were insurmountable and Giovanni Pezzino is a primary reason for that.
